I love to be outdoors. Everywhere that I have lived or visited, I have found God’s beauty in his creation.
There is a rugged beauty to the Phoenix area. The jagged, multicolored granite mountains that surround the city are magnificent to gaze upon, but better to climb. There is amazing detail of how these mountains formed; the lizards, snakes, and birds that occupy them; and the plants and trees that grow on these mountains amaze me.
Likewise, I have found beauty in the forest preserves outside of Chicago, in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and in the glistening and swaying wheat fields of Kansas. The Rocky Mountains, the Swiss Alps, the black forest of Germany, the lush green landscape of Ireland, the white sands of Cancun flood my imagination with his beauty…created by the Beautiful One.
My mind marvels at the way white blood cells hurry to the scene of a cut and quickly coagulate to prevent further bleeding; how modern medicines conquer disease at the microscopic level; how hundreds of parts have to fit together so that we hear, see, taste, smell, and feel properly.
How majestic, how beautiful is our Creator!
If that wasn’t enough, imagine God’s radiating light: his glory on full display. So powerful, so brilliant that all we could utter after seeing is something similar to Isaiah when he saw it, “Woe is me! …for I have unclean lips.” (Isaiah 6:5 ESV)
Like the rarest cut diamond slowing turning, its purity overpowers us; its majesty takes our breath away; its beauty captivates our eyes; and its power humbles us.
Immersing yourself in the beauty and radiance of our beloved Creator is a way to worship Him. Allow your imagination run wild as your eyes gaze on God’s beauty. Each part of the earth is unique and reflects his handiwork: the people, plants, animals, ground, and sky.
Go to some open space and just observe the beauty of the place. God created it all and he sustains it. His work is on display for you to enjoy so get lost in its wonder and fall down and worship him.
“How the heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above declares his handiwork.” (Psalm 19:8 ESV)
I went to a Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Louie Giglio concert about the years ago titled, "How Great Is Our God". During it Louie describes a protein adhesion molecule named Laminin that holds our bodies together. Watch this clip and marvel.
He also speaks about the cosmos that will blow your mind right here.
